During a recent Hebrew class, I sat silently, perhaps stunned, as some surprising comments surfaced from inside the classroom. A discussion arose after reading Yehuda Amichai's poem, "Jerusalem." The poem, which Amichai wrote in 1967, just before the start of the Six Day War, describes a Jew who is gazing from the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem's Old City, onto the Palestinian section of the city.
